Egyptian Drums

Egyptian Doumbek, also called darabuka, is a drum of ancient origin. The sound quality of these instruments is superb. They have a beautiful mother-of-pearl inlaid design on a metal body, the most famous manufacturer of these drums in the world are gawharet el fan.
Gawharet El Fan, Formerly Mosika El Kamal El Watania, established 1940, is one of the oldest and deep-rooted musical instrument shops in Egypt. It was the first one that displayed different kinds of musical instruments in one shop in Egypt. Three shops in Mohamed Ali Street give you the real feeling of Egyptian and oriental spirit the rhythm of pure music flow melts all limits. Gawharet el fan is also a permanent exhibitor in Frankfurt Music Show ( Frank furtmesse).

A drum is a musical instrument in the percussion group that can be large, technically classified as a membranophone. Drums consist of at least one membrane, called a drumhead or drum skin, that is stretched over a shell and struck, either directly with parts of a player's body, or with some sort of implement such as a drumstick, to produce sound. Drums are the world's oldest and most ubiquitous musical instruments, and the basic design has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years. Most drums are called "untuned instruments" because they have no definite pitch, with the exception of a few such as timpani. Often, several drums are arranged together to create a drum set that can be played by a single musician.
